Black Lightning, his daughters Thunder & Lightning and their (possible) descendants 1,000 + years in the future, twins Lightning Lad, Lightning Lass (Light Lass, Spark) and their evil big brother, Lightning Lord

The Ranzzs aren’t their descendants.

Garth, Ayla, and Mekt got their lightning powers from an accident involving the lightning beasts of the planetoid Korbal.

I did say (Possible) and who’s to say that their abilities weren’t carried by their ancestors and lain dormant until activated by the lightning beasts?

That’s something to think about.

It’s a fun idea and not exactly something DC hasn’t tried before particularly with the Legion. See also Kent Shakespeare.

But it’d be odd for a connection like that to be made if not always intended.

Hey, if they could somehow tie Red Tornado to Wildfire’s containment suit or the long time Legion villain Validus, Lightning Lad’s kid, they could make his long ago ancestors be the Pierce family.

Let’s take it to another level; I think that this has been retconned out of the super convoluted history of the LSH, Mon’el being the “seeder” of the various planets of what would become the United Planets in the 31st Century.  Maybe he got to what would become the Ranzz home planet, saw the close distance to the planetoid Korbal and put a little X-Factor in the seeding process that would provide a genetic shield against lightning beasts, in the event that someone came across Korbal.  But since their planet became known for farming, not space travel, the gene became recessive, only to be activated when the Ranzzs got struck.  It’s possible, knowing that on other worlds you have everything from shrinking to magnetic abilities, so this could be possible as well.

Captain America is a great soldier but I know more about life than he does. So what he’s like 91 or 92, he spent almost 70 years frozen in a ice floe, so, technically, he’s only about 24-25.  Not saying that all 20 somethings don’t know anything, most know enough to be dangerous but there are quite a few who I would trust with a lot of things.

But Steve Rogers has always come across to me as if he’s the master of everything.  Like I said, on the battlefield, I’ll give it up to him, but when he takes off that mask, I would like to think that he’s just another himbo with issues, in his case, Daddy issues, and you gotta imagine that being in love with one woman during World War II and then hooking up with her look alike niece when he’s thaw’d out would be kinda fucked up to think about.  That shit, cray!

So, nah, Steve, you can’t tell me about a lot of things, so shut up, kid and go hit somebody with that shield, already

Hi! I’m stoked to present my thesis comic, If This Be Sin, based on the life of Gladys Bentley. It’s for sale on Gumroad! You can download the 16 page full-color PDF for $2.

Gladys Bentley, was a blues singer, piano player, and drag king who performed bawdy tunes in Harlem nightclubs throughout the 1920s and ’30s. Despite the social obstacles she faced as a black, openly queer woman, her outrageous and energetic act became a mainstay of the Harlem cabaret. In 1952, under the oppressive social conditions of the McCarthy era, Bentley publicly renounced her previous identity and claimed to have found happiness as a feminine housewife.

Gumroad is super simple to use, you just have to enter your credit card number and you’ll be sent a direct download, plus Gumroad will email you a link to re-download it if you ever lose track of the file.

FOR EVERY 100 NOTES, I’LL GIVE AWAY A DIGITAL COMIC TO A RANDOM TUMBLR USER so please share if you can! (Within each 100 notes, only people who reblog are eligible for a free copy.)

Thank you and I hope you enjoy the comic!
