populationgo: “Last Vegas” (2013) Debut Trailer CBS Films has released the first trailer for John Turtletaub’s (National Treasure) upcoming comedy, Last Vegas. The film comes off as a cross between The Hangover and Grown Ups, but with 60-something-year-olds as Michael Douglas invites his friends over to…

you mean to tell me that the one environment where everyone KNOWS people of color are (unfortunately and unfairly) the majority is now the setting for a hit new tv show and they STILL HAVE THE LEAD CHARACTER BE A WHITE PERSON??!! oh right, because prison wasn’t interesting or dramatic or heartbreaking until a white person who *shouldn’t* be in jail got sentenced. and through this lead white character we will learn about all the PoCs around her- her presence will allow their stories to be told! finally! because those ladies weren’t worthwhile til they had the lens of a white person to highlight them?! GET. THE. FUCK. OUT. OF. HERE. we deserve better than this, all of us as audience members and as human beings, we deserve better!!!! ‪don’t we???

Shit, I ain’t psychic but my Spider-Sense automatically kicked into side-eye mode when I saw “A New Series From The Creator Of WEEDS”.  Great, another show where the black folks are doing something illegal but have hearts of Gold and/or have the vapors for the main white character and want to smell her hair and squeeze out her tampons on a regular basis.  I knew what was to be expected and The Creator Of WEEDS didn’t fail but did fail, ya dig?  I hated the ever living fuck out of Weeds and ain’t too keen on Breaking Bad, either…there, I said it!

And, 9 times out of 10 whenever you see “________ Is The New Black”  it’s not usually a compliment to The Old Black.

ETA: She was talking about Orange Is The New Black

**as a side note, when i first saw the title of this show on a billboard, orange is the new goddamn black, i thought it was commentary on the fact that there is a disproportionate amount of black people in america’s prisons, which i thought was a very clever title- i was intrigued at the prospect of a tv show tackling such an important issue and i wondered how audiences would handle being hit with the imagined truth bombs this show was gonna throw, and then claire was like, um, no, it’s a reference to fashion. because, you know, ladies, fashion, obvi! icanticanticanticanticantiCANT
